Your estimates look reasonable for the cost of a mesh network. The biggest issue is that the mesh looks like it will NOT universally penetrate buildings or houses. Some houses yes, most no... Therefore, Google's mesh wifi is not comparable to cable or DSL in terms of offering service.

Good point you are making there. But what if they eventually engineered the mesh network to exactly serve that purpose? This is what e.g. Cerritos by L.A. did by now almost some four years ago. I wonder how much that would drive the network capex up.
