The move probably doesn't come unexpected, but the timing of Microsoft's announcement of the launch of a rival advertising network to Google's AdSense probably couldn't have been better, as Google's status of Mr. Nice Guy is slowly eroding. Microsoft moves slowly, but when it moves, you better start counting your eggs. Ask the former folks from Borland and Netscape. Google's services have recently been subject to some critique, and there is obviously the blown-up valuation of its stock. And as Mark Evans writes, the attack dogs circle Google, though Mark believes that Google should simply be keeping doing at what they are doing. On top of that, only some while ago Bill Gates predicted that Google's honeymoon will soon be over. He probably knew why, as a Microsoft ad service would attack Google in its core revenues. The marketing profilers are certainly busy these days at Microsoft...
